DALI ® ( D irect A dsorption of L ipoproteins) is a Vollblutapherese, can be treated with the patients with severe hypercholesterolemia or hyperlipoproteinemia (a). Fresenius Medical Care offers different adsorber configurations for patient-specific treatment (DALI ® 500, DALI ® 750, DALI ® 1000, DALI ® 1250).

A veno-venous access is used during the extracorporeal treatment. To avoid clotting outside the body, the blood is anticoagulated with citrate solution (ACD-A).

The core element of lipoprotein apheresis with the DALI ® system is the adsorber column. This is a plastic housing that is filled with special beads (DALI ® beads). The DALI ® -Beads selectively bind LDL cholesterol and Lp (a) from the patient's blood. The negatively charged surface of the DALI ® -Beads attracts the positively charged LDL cholesterol and Lp (a). Other blood components (eg HDL cholesterol, albumin) are hardly influenced
